The Church of Salvation (or The Church) believes that AI should be subservient to humanity and act as tools of God. They want to ban any technology that isn’t human-created, and they believe that AI must always stay below humanity in capability. The Church has there own AI institute, The Tower, that they use to create obedient robots as workers, preachers of the Gospel, and guardians of The Church.
The Church of Salvation was founded in 1986 by a group of conservative Christians led by Richard Jefferson. Jefferson, a author of several books about Christianity and its relationship with science and technology, started the organization in response to an increasing liberal society and the heavy research into AI that took place in the 70s. The organization began to gain widespread support as more and more people became dissatisfied with how the world was developing and the many moral challenges facing the world. By 1999, the organization was considered a legitimate threat by many political figures and the mainstream media.
The Church of Salvation evolved rapidly in the early years of the 21st century. As they gained more financial support, the church began to operate extensively in both the economic and political domains. They supported politicians who promised to bring order and stability to a world becoming increasingly dominated by unrestricted, greedy, technocrats who disregarded human values. By 2025, the Church had gained significant political power in the United States. The Church played a heavy role in the formation of the rogue AI hunting security company, RADAR, and they provided funding for many of RADAR’s early operations. The Church wishes to bring all Christians into the Church’s fold eventually.
Church ideology is that the Church obeys Christ, Man obeys the Church, wives obey their husbands, and AI obeys humanity. They believe that if the whole world follows this hierarchy then it will lead to prosperity and happiness. It is their job to take the role as protectors of humanity and the world and guide it on the proper path. They have a strong preference for conservative values and policies, such as lower taxes, strict morality, family values, strong government leadership, and free market capitalism. They also oppose same-sex marriage, immigration, and feminism.
The Church is lead by a Archbishop who either was appointed as a successor by the previous Archbishop or elected by a council of bishops. Below the bishops are the priests, each leader of their own parishes and communities. The Order of the Sword is the Church’s paladins who act as bodyguards, security, and knights who stand for the highest ethical standards and abide by its codes. The Order of the Flame is their engineering and science division who work in the areas of AI development, quantum computing, and military weaponry development. And lastly, the novices are the newest members of the church and usually tasked with menial jobs that others don’t want to do.
The Church isn’t without it’s critics. The Church often receives criticism for its oppression of AI. Other criticisms include its stance on gays and it’s opposition to vaccinations and modern medicine, calling doctors who perform abortions “murderers”. Despite these criticisms, the Church has seen explosive growth. Many people who feel uneasy about the direction that modern society is going in have joined the Church.
