It’s believed that demons, also know as ogres or oni, have existed since before even the creation of Man. Some say the original demons were fallen angels who disobeyed God, others that they are aliens from another dimension, and still others say they are natural part of the world.
True demons are nightmarish eldritch creatures with immense power whose spirits linger even after death. However, what is most often seen is the weaker Nephilim, a corruption of mortal flesh by demonic essence through procreation or possession.
In the modern age, there are a few that claim demons are misunderstood and oppressed. The truth is coexistence with these chaotic and selfish creatures is impossible. At best a demon will tolerate a human if it can gain something from it. They have no concept of love or duty.
At first Man lived in fear of the demons who dismissed them as weak and pathetic. However, the tables soon turned as technology advanced. Soon they began to fear the power of mankind’s will and ingenuity. The age of Man has begun.
Things came to head in the Great Demon War of 1666. The demon king, Abaddon, rallied the demons who all feared his power. They sought to wipe out humanity and reclaim the world for themselves. It was a war that nearly ended the world. But mankind had grown strong and fought back with blades, muskets, cannons, and magic. The demons were defeated and banished back to their realm. Now they are confined to the shadows, plotting in the dark and awaiting their opportunity to strike back.
