Memeyori are creatures born in cyberspace out of our culture’s obsession with memes and our mass subconscious use of the Internet. They’re like a cross between an AI created from our collective consciousness and actual physical entities. Their actions and appearance are influenced by human influence on the internet. Basically, they are imaginary internet folklore made real. As Memeyori get stronger, their abilities improve, and there are special circumstances in which they can evolve to become entirely different Memeyori altogether.
There are fourteen types that Memeyori fall under: Beast, Air, Dark, Ethereal, Earth, Fire, Force, Holy, Ice, Lightning, Metal, Plant, Toxic, and Water. Each has their own strengths and weaknesses, but every single one is incredibly powerful. They are difficult for a single person to defeat without meme magic.
Meme magic users can learn to summon these creatures to aid them, but the more powerful the Memeyori, the more meme power they require. This used to be the only way they would enter our world, but recently some of them have started to manifest in our world on their own accord, likely due to massive number of meme’s on the internet. Memeyori will hunt each other as well as humans for their meme essence. If a Memeyori is defeated, a meme magic user can absorb it’s essence to become stronger as well as learn it’s memes.
Through the secret art of meme fusion, the essence of two Memeyori can be combined to create a stronger one. It doesn’t always work, however, and the strength of the resultant Memeyori will depend on the amount of meme essence available, the types of involved and the skill of the meme magic user.
In the age of the Internet there has emerged gods of the internet known as Archons. It’s speculated these are some sort of higher form of Memeyori. Archons gain power from the Internet and all the content (including people) that comes with it. As the world is addicted to the internet so are these Archons becoming stronger. If a meme magic user can subdue one they might be able to call upon their power.
