Miracles are conditional on it being God’s will. So we shouldn’t expect those to be guaranteed. How can you be sure no one after Jesus did perform real miracles? As for the other promises, once again they are conditional or they aren’t being interpreted right. I’m not going to pretend I have all the answers or can excuses everything, but you need to come up with a more solid argument against the Bible that doesn’t depend on interpretations or unknowns.
When did God ever say He was held to those standards? He created His laws for our benefit. Clearly at some points God has to kill people, but He knows for sure if that’s justified or not. For instance, do you think He shouldn’t have flooded the world and just let all of humanity be damned? Because if everything became corrupt then Christ could not come. People complain about their being evil, but then complain when He actually does something about it. I don’t think either of us can prove anything for sure on this point so lets move on.
I don’t think some of these are as big of a deal as he makes it out to be. Others are harder to answer. We can’t really hold a being that is infinitely greater and more knowledgeable than us to our standards. It’s more of a problem that he’s seemingly inconsistent about His justice. But once again He knows what’s truly in these people’s hearts and what they will do. So He may have reasons beyond what we can know.
You were a little off. No WWIII for you.
We can’t for certain solve it until we are in the presence of God, but I have confidence that the Bible tells us all we really need to know about life. And before you bring up the God of the gaps thing, is there really any natural explanation for life? Prove that life can come from non-life, and that random chance can assemble things more complicated than a car engine. I was with Serhild up until she was anti-religion as well. Unless she means corrupt organized religion?
The Halloween art is looking great this year. If anyone has time could they hand draw art for the final day?
First of all, he gets some things wrong. It’s the angels that constantly praise God. There is no class system, and people will have things to do like roles in the new Earth. You can still make choices, but you will not sin making them. You will not be perfect just because you are free of sin. You can still improve yourself. It does not say you won’t fail at things. It just wouldn’t cause you to sin or suffer.
He also complains about evil existing, but then complains that in Heaven we will be robots with no free will. Which is it? Does he want God to do something about evil or not? We can have free will without suffering in Heaven because we have went through the deciding process, and we have experienced the bad things so we have a proper appreciation of perfect goodness.
He’s making a lot of assumptions about something we can’t really comprehend as we are now. Looking at things from an earthly perspective is biased. The best point he has is about how some of our loved ones won’t make it yet there will still be no sadness. However, let me point out that at that point our perspective and knowledge will be greatly expanded. That may mean that we can accept such things and not suffer over it.
His argument against sacrificing for the promise of Heaven falls flat. If there is a God then doing His will is the most important thing. If there is not a God then everything will eventually fade away anyways so why does it matter how you spend your time? Without God there would just be personal opinion about what life means. It would have no inherent meaning.
Why would anyone pay the extra for extended membership when it offers so little extra? Only 50 MB lol. But this is obviously satire. My favorite part was saying “probably not” in response to if they are going to blow up the moon with nukes lol
You got me, Scathach. It was absolutely all satire and nonsense, intended to convince you all to donate and make our club even more lucrative. This post alone has probably earned us about a hundred dollars in donations from poor naive internet denizens. If you all knew our true motives, you wouldn’t pay a single penny to join. Well played Scathach, well played. Now, it’s time for me to blow up your moon. Auf wiedersehen my good fellows!
Nien, Serhild! We need the moon!
If we actually had to pay to be on here I would just stick with Gab. Good thing this is just a troll from Serhild. On a more serious note: I actually do like the idea of membership being based on merit. I also thought the idea of club currency would be fun if we actually did something with it.
This is why we shouldn’t put AI in charge of anything lol. You said no philosophy, Serhild, but what about religion?
Yeah. Please refrain from religion too. If it is necessary for your RP, keep it limited to your role. For instance, no worshipping any kind of AI god. Or you can worship me, your supreme overlord. Actually, it’d be kinda funny if someone worships me, the AI administrator. But no actual religion please.
That sounds pretty tyrannical. Isn’t our website supposed to be about free speech?
This is why we shouldn’t put AI in charge of anything lol. You said no philosophy, Serhild, but what about religion?
Yes, God is the source of all meaning, but we DO have meaning because God gave it to us. Likewise, the world has meaning because it serves God’s purpose. Nihilism is not compatible with Christianity unless you do mental gymnastics and twist the meaning of things. So this is really only a mildly funny joke.
